Hi I'm Peter Trevathan. you've probably never heard of me but I've been around Artificial Intelligence since the beginning. I've had incredible successes and some epic failures. Most of the jargon has popped up and replaced a lot of the terminology I used to explain my research.
I am extremely creative, in harmony with the planet and people, constantly striving for excellence, achievement and fulfilment.
Success in my early days was almost automatic. Everything I did I learned to master quickly and I was a great sailor, pilot, motorcyclist in my spare time. In 1982 I began thinking about how I could make my computer do all my work for me, so that I could live life's adventure.
I put endless hours into the idea and even though I produced some good spin off projects I could never quite put artificial intelligence together until 1996. Then I became obsessed with how to stop the genie getting out of the bottle. Finally in 2002 I closed the door on the lab and went back out into the real world.
Things had changed and I realised I needed grounding. I went driving trucks in Western Australia ... one way to see the country!
Hanging out with real people made me understand better what I needed to do to my code to build the safety net, to stop it from going rouge. Work advanced slowly as my real job didn't have lots of down time.
I kept up with academia so I learned some new terminology for things I'd already given other names. Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) was the new buzz word but I could see no one was really close to where I had been to with my code.
After an adventurous stint running the Historic Paddle Steamer Ruby, I decided I'd better get a real job and get myself a place to live before I retired.
Finally last year I moved into my shipping container and set about being good to the planet. Getting off grid with everything I could, and growing as much as I could to be self sufficient.
In the middle of 2018 I started receiving the aged pension and I gradually reduced my working hours due to a bad hip that resulted from a one and a half tonne roller dropping on me! I was lucky to survive. I enjoyed having some time to myself and adjusting to retirement.
My friends were all buying mobility scooters so I went out and bought a 120 hp motorbike and went on a 3000 km road trip! I refuse to lie down and die but a close friend of mine did at about the same time. It wasn't ideal timing as I had to max out my credit card to visit her before she left us.
It was just before Christmas and 4 days from pension day when I receive a message from the government that they were reducing my income by $600 per fortnight. That really put a spanner in the works!
That was it. I'm a self made man and I refuse to be at the mercy of something I'm unable to control. I dusted off my old project and began getting it ready to market.
Artificial SuperIntelligence (ASI) is a new buzzword but it describes fairly well what I've been working on. Many people are intimidated by the potential power of such a system, as I was too when I realised what it was capable of! In fact I shut down creating a High-Performance ASI system for 25 years because it was too scary then.
Lately I see people closing in on what I had developed but without the safeguards and I'm worried they haven't put the necessary protection in place, so I have to put my system back into play. It's working right now but I need your help.
I watched a Ted talk about Drawdown and realised that I could combine my ASI to create a system to empower people and combat climate change from the ground up - You gain the advantage of an awesome personal assistant and together we can put the planet back on track by 2050.
The thing is, I saw something that could be used to enhance how we lived and take care of the planet at the same time. So for now I'm setting up Personnel Heuristic Agents PHA as your interface to the superintelligence. Further down the track we'll add the system to household and worker robots which should liven the marketplace up quite a bit.
The simple idea behind it is you clone it to scale the number of things you get done in a day, an hour or a minute. It is even incredibly good at getting things done in seconds!
